The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald’s.
